November 2016: Blender Architecture has recently been
commissioned to develop a master plan for the public spaces for a
mid-century high-rise in Evanston IL.
October 2016: Blender Architecture is completing
documentation of the renovation and interior alteration to the
Immanel Lutheran Church and Day School. Construction is
slated for the spring of 2017.
May 2016: Maria Segal participated as a Community Respondent
in the Constitutional Rights Foundation Chicago's Action-Based
Communities program. 5th to 8th grade
Chicago Public Schools students engage in "civic learning through
doing" projects exploring problems in their schools and
communities, and proposing and implementing solutions. Maria
heard and responded to students' projects including "Depressing
Bathrooms," "Onahan Garden Grows," and "Keeping Your Stuff Safe and

December 26, 2014: On behalf of our current clients,
Blender Architecture is donating funding for Lill Street's Art
& Entrepreneurship Artreach: Sew/Share/Sell 2015 program.
Sew/Share/Sell is a collaborative program with Grace House
that teaches women coming out of prison basic sewing skills and
introduces them to concepts of marketing and sales. Learn

June 17,2014: Blender Architecture along with artist
Amze Emmons, designed and installed a curated show of 20 publishers
from around the world, entitled Publisher! Publisher!
April 2014: Maria Segal and Amy Freshwater co-authored
an article published in Childcare Exchange entitled "Bodies in
Jan 8, 2014: Blender Architecture is featured in the AIA
Chicago magazine, with an article on the renovation of the chapel
at Emanuel Congregation. The project was a collaboration with
local artisans and members of the Congregation.
Maria Segal is consulting as an Early Childhood Specialist on a
project for the Holloman Air Force Base in Almagordo New Mexico.
The project entails the design and implementation of a 18,000
s.f. outdoor play landscape and education area.
May 3, 2013: Blender Architecture received an AIA
Chicago Small Projects merit award for the residential project
located at 1101 N Damen. The ceremony took place
at Architectural Artifacts in Chicago.
Blender Architecture are now working with the Hamlin Park
Advisory Council on the re-design of their playlot. In
collaboration with the City of Chicago Park District.
May 17-18, 2012: Maria Segal represented Blender
Architecture at the McCormick Center for Early Childhood Leadership
Conference, National Louis University. Blender Architecture
worked with Andy Howard of Hitchcock Design Group, discussing with
participants about improving learning environments.
May 11, 2012: Blender Architecture received an AIA
Chicago Small Projects honor award for the residential project
located at 2039 West Dickens. The ceremony took place
at Architectural Artifacts in Chicago.
May 11, 2012: Blender Architecture presented its plans and
feasibility study to State Senator Cullerton as part of the
initiative to provide renovation and addition to the James G.
Blaine Elementary School.
January 23, 2012: Maria Segal presented "Nature Based Play
and Facility Design: Using Nature and Physical Space to Engage,
Support Learning and Improve Well Being" at Nature Education
Workshop, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, featuring
keynote speaker Claire Warden, Mindstretchers, Scotland.
January 28, 2012: Maria Segal presented "Optimizing Outdoor
Spaces for Multi-Sensory Exploration"with Andy Howard, Hitchcock
Design Group, at Opening Minds Conference, Chicago Metro
Association for the Education of Young Children.
January 2012: Maria Segal's project for Concordia Place
Community Center was featured in Chicago Architect Magazine, cover
story. Maria was the Project Designer with the firm of
Holabird and Root for the completion of this building.
